The 300th 911 Reimagined by Singer 🍾

Singer has just completed the 300th restored Porsche 911 in their Classic Study with its owner who has named their car the ‘Sotto’ commission.

If you’re not familiar with Singer, they have taken the air-cooled Porsche world by storm. Founded in 2009 by Rob Dickinson in Los Angeles, California. The company was named after a successful Porsche engineer named Norbert Singer. Norbert’s work has led to numerous 24 Hours of Le Mans victories and actually was a consultant on the Dynamic & Lightweight Study for Singer Vehicle Designs.

Each restoration is a work of art. Every nut and bolt receives meticulous thought and the price tag shows. However, Singer has decided to stop taking orders for their Classic Study to focus on more profitable projects. The Classic Study fetched from $650,000 to $1M while the DLS requires a $1.8M entry point. Singer will now focus on the 930 Turbo Study.

The Classic Study is a great and highlights the earlier 911s, but the series that steals the show is the DLS or Dynamic & Lightweight Study!

DLS - Dynamic & Lightweight Study

The Porsche 964 generation includes the 911s from 1989 - 1994. Singer unveiled their DLS car in 2018 at the Festival of Speed in Goodwood and has been the car that most people imagine when they think of Singer.

The $1.8M price tag ensures that these mechanical marvels will unfortunately spend their days in an air conditioned garage next to other cars just waiting for the day, that someone floors the throttle on an open backcountry road.

930 Turbo Study

The 930 generation 911 Turbo was produced between 1975 and 1989 and is also known as the “Widowmaker”. Singer first showcased this study at the Festival of Speed in Goodwood.

The rear end on this thing is wider than a Ford Bronco Raptor!

What are your thoughts? Is the DLS the sweet spot? Is the Turbo study a bit much? Either way, Singer has benefited from the success that Porsche has had over the past decade. It wasn’t too long ago that Porsche shocked the world by building an SUV just to keep the lights on.
